The MotoGP day was marked by the Sprint Race, an innovative race that saw riders compete for 12 laps. The Sprint Race, introduced for the first time this year, saw Team Prima Pramac rider Jorge Martin take his first podium of the season after setting the third fastest time in the morning’s qualifying session.
The Sprint Race added another dimension of adrenaline and competitiveness to the second day of track activities, held under the spring sun at the Algarve circuit.
Johann Zarco after finishing the morning qualifying in tenth place gained two positions in the race by finishing in eighth position
Jorge Martín
“I am a little disappointed with my result in the Sprint Race because I could have won, but it was still a positive experience for me. I gave my best on the track, but my bike was not 100 percent and I struggled a little bit. Now we have to analyze the data and work for Sunday’s race, but I am confident that we can do a good result. I thank my team for their work and all the fans for their support.”
Johann Zarco
“It was a very challenging Sprint Race, but I am satisfied with my result. I started well and tried to keep up with the front runners, but I lost some ground toward the end. However, we will start from the fourth row on Sunday and that gives us a good chance for the race. I have good feelings with the bike and we just need to make the final adjustments. Thanks to my team and the fans for the support.”
